Vincent Price has one of his juiciest roles in this haunted-house thriller as millionaire playboy Frederick Loren, who invites five guests out to a genuine haunted house, offering them each $10, 000 if they spend the night. Elisha Cook Jr. plays one of the guests, a nervous alcoholic who has been in this house before and .. Read more

A bit of hocus pocus and gumpf about covens and witches served up with plenty of fog and low lighting.
Shame that there was not enough of Christopher Lee but then he couldn't have been in 1000 or so movies if they required more than 1 weeks attendance. Some little shocks and an interesting way to see the way horror used to be.
Poor,Poor,Poor,Poor,Poor,Poor,Poor,Poor.
Something of a supernatural spin on 'Psycho', this is a film which, despite the tacky title, emerges a pleasant surprise - both spooky and atmospheric, and far superior to the camp Hammer horrors of the time.
Sure, some of the actings sub-par, but on the whole this is far better acted and stylishly crafted than you might expect. The evident use of a mist-covered sound stage is particularly effective, and even if theres no getting away from the fact that this is a B-movie, at least its a damn good one.
This is rather boring and a very poor example of a Vincent Price or William Castle film - you'd be much better off with The Tingler, which is ten times more inventive and loads more fun.

The title says it all! This is actually 3 movies on one disk, so you are getting value for money here.
This movie looked far older than the actually year it was made.
And it's in black and white.
It's okay, but it's nothing to write home to the vicar about!!
I'm a big fan of Vincent Price and had high expectations for this. Although it wasn't bad, the plot was something more akin to a tv drama like Diagnosis Murder, than a horror film. Seemed to finish just as I was expecting it to begin. Dare I say it but the remake with Geoffrey Rush compares quite well and is maybe even a better all round watch.
I'd seen the remake of this movie and watched this purly for the comedy. Its hiarious to think anyone could have found this scary, the 'special effects' are so dated its funny.
Strange title I know. however, there is something cosy about a gathering of people, in a house, thrown together in a bizarre experience that this film portrays. The film is hard ot follow though. I had a hard time keeping track of what was going on. I find the gaps of silence in this film, being a visualy impaired person, make it hard ot follow what's going on. I mean, one minute you know what's happening in a scene then, in the next scene with dialogue, I'm thinkiing, did I miss something? What just happened? Being in blaick and white doesn't help but, that's the nthe way it is. It's a pritty old film so, can't expect that to change. However, the film is still enjoyable, slow, timidly going forward to weightier scenes in the film. That's also what gives the film a cosy feeling, compared to the scary film of today. They are all about quick flashing scenes, short shar shocks. Where as this likes to build up the horror and, gives a lot of interesting background to cover in the meantime. Worth watching if you fancy an old film and nothing racey.
I'm getting sick of these transfers from VHS - very poor copy but a great film, if you can watch it !!
