[Highly rated reviewer]Housewife 49 is a tour-de-force of acting, totally realistic. I should know,
I lived through those days and was straitway taken back. Just about
everything was as I remembered it - each and every character. If you
don't remember, or, indeed, did not live at that time, then I thoroughly
recomend that you take the time to rent it just to see how we were then.
This is one DVD that I can't rate highly enough, easily the best thing on
television for total representation of a bygone era and justifyably
transferred to DVD. Thoroughly Recommended.

Housewife 49By a customer from Doncaster , 29 Jul 2008Very gentle film about a housewife and her family, excellent acting from all cast members. Sensitive portrayal of the relationship between the wife and her husband, and the relationship she has with her sons. Good portrayal of what it must have been like living through the second world war in Britain.

Good FilmBy a customer from Stroud , 21 Apr 2008I really enjoyed this film, it showed the strength of women and the weakness of men in times of trouble and heartache. Very sad in places but a great film and well worth watching.
LOVED ITBy Julie Smith from Glasgow , 12 Dec 2007This is such a fantastic film.
You feel every emotion that Victoria Woods character goes through.
The whole thing felt very authentic.

Victoria does it again!!By John Birkett from Stevenage , 30 Oct 2007This was an engagingly different and involving film.
Not cinematically striking or impressive, yet having a lasting effect, the images and situations continue to buzz in and out of my memory and I have a feeling they will do so for quite some time to come.
Victoria Wood at her best yet again
