As the title suggests, this insipid romantic comedy will prove adept at driving away men — in just a matter of minutes — and its female audience may well follow. Kate Hudson's journalist is assigned a magazine feature for which she must snare a guy and then make him dump her, while her target, Matthew McConaughey, is involved in a bet to make a woman fall in love with him — and both have ten days to do it in. Despite the odd mildly amusing observation on the mating rituals of New Yorkers and some pretty cinematography, the contrived plot and leaden supporting cast smother any sign of the light, fizzy wit that's essential for this kind of film. Matters aren't helped by Hudson and McConaughey, who, while undoubtedly an attractive couple, lack the chemistry needed to give this fallen soufflé of a movie the sexy lift it so badly needs.
Lacklustre romantic comedy that strains credibility and strands its leads in a no man's, or woman's, land of desperate contrivance.

Having suspected this would be a chick-flick, I was delightfully suprised at just how much I enjoyed this movie. I laughed, I cried, I shook my head in disgust but most of all I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kate Hudson is gorgeous and much like her mother Goldie Hawn, she is able to capture the audience with her stunning beauty, quirkiness and sense of fun. The chemistry between the two stars was believeable and strong enough to warrant me constantly hoping they would fall in love and it all works out. Well, you'll have to watch the film to find if if they do or not. Needless to say it does have the usual amount of 'American Cheese' that their romantic comedies cannot escape from but in this circumstance I forgive them.
If your partner rents this film get a book or magazine to read while it's on. From the opening credits to the end this is purile drivel. Performances? there are none. If I should ever have to see this film again I think I would lose the will to live.
I really enjoyed this film, albeit a little predictable. Kate Hudson is just brilliant as Andie Anderson. She manages to create that aura, which has you wondering how any guy could ever fail to love her, but then becomes every guys worst nightmare and has you thinking how any guy could go near her!! All down to excellent acting skills without a doubt. Some very funny moments, not to mention toe curling moments too - a good Sunday afternoon film in my opinion.
What we thought would be a predictable romantic comedy turned out to be both touching and funny. The pairing of Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson combined with a witty script worked really well.
Maybe I wasn't in the mood for this type of film, but I couldn't get into it at all.

Interesting love story starts off a little cheesy but gets better. Believable performances from both actors but don't be put off by the boring introduction.
this film was very funny, one of the funniest i've seen in along time!with a good story line and some classic moments i would definately recomend it.
.....a contradiction in terms?
Well actually no this film is very watchable and fun!
Although the plot is very basic and a little predictable, it is executed very well!
Definitely worth watching!
this film is fantastic, really funny and even my boyfriend enjoyed it. And the leading man is pretty tasty mr matthew McConaug(hey)
Good fun movie, easy to watch, no concentration required!! Original story line, with Kate Hudson hilarious as the serious journalist, trying to lose her man for the sake of a magazine article, by deliberately commiting all of the classis mistakes in a relationship. However, the man in question is trying to win his bet too, he needs her to fall in love with him for the sake of his career. Predicatable ending, but fun to watch. Thought this would be a real "chick flick" but my husband enjoyed it too, we all know people like this couple!! Great for a lazy sunday afternoon.
I found this film to have a great storyline. You just cannot wait to see what will happen next!!!! Great fun to watch!!
Not at all bad for a "Girlie" movie. I was made to watch it with my other half and I must admit I quite enjoyed the humour. Provoked some interesting sexist debate between us afterwards!!
