American quilt, mainly for chicks?
By scott macmillan from scotland , 28 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This movie is what you you might term a chick flick, and it certainly is, but I, as man, enjoyed it very much, the acting is fantastic, and the stories within stories are brilliantly written and very touching, A great film to watch with your bird or yourself , but you might get a slagging if you put it on at the rugby club, great movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

(18)needles and pins
By Tinagoddess (8 reviews) from Sheffield, England , 05 Jun 2011I love women who push against convention. So I loved this story of three generations of strong women - each with secrets, misunderstandings and heart ache. I don't know how I missed this film all these years with a such a great cast of wonderful women.
As you 'meet' each woman it is easy to make snap judgments about why they are the way they are. But initial impressions are deceiving and as the story moves back and forth from the past to the present you begin to feel something unexpected about each character.
And I want one of the gorgeous quilts!- Was this review helpful to you?

Not a sewing movie
By witchling (17 reviews) from Richmond. North Yorkshire , 12 Feb 2010I loved this story. The threads are woven together with some brilliant acting and some deeply moving stories. They are linked together by the sewing of a number of quilts. An all American home town sort of tale but with an up to date twist.
A gentle story and one I would watch again.- Was this review helpful to you?

Fab film
By max4kris (57 reviews) from Stanley , 26 Jun 2009This is one of my all time favourite 'girlie films'. Just as good as I remembered, love the story plot and Ryder is fantastic in the leading role.
Everyone who likes 'chick flicks' with a story should watch this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great cast but lacking something
By a customer from Surrey , 09 May 2009A stellar cast, even if Winona Ryder was the weakest (inexperience?) who promised so much but somehow failed to deliver their best. Certainly watchable though if, as already said, predicatable.- Was this review helpful to you?
