    [Highly rated reviewer]

The hot cinematic trio from 'The Big Heat' reteam for this minor noir;- Fritz Lang directing, Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame starring.

The same sparks don't fly this time round however.

There are some great images reflecting Lang's silent cinema background, of trains travelling, arriving, and people running around train yards. The imagery is very striking.

But the human triangle (the third part of which is heavyweight Broderick Crawford), doesn't mesh quite so effectively.

Grahame looks slutty, sultry and vulpine; but has more chemistry with Crawford who she taunts and manipulates than with hunky everyman hero Ford.

The ending is very downbeat, for a 1950's noir, it reminded me in tone of 'Detour' starring Ann Savage.

But for fans of film noir and Lang and for me, Grahame, there is much to enjoy and revel in.
