Absolutely brilliant - one of the best
By Jane Smerdon from London, England , 02 Sep 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
This movie has it all - suspense, drama, twists and turns. Coming from a time when actors had to rely on their talent rather than special effects, this film certainly delivers. Bette Davis at her very best, this film will have you gripped from the beginning to the end. At times scary, at times sad, this film gets 100% from me.- Was this review helpful to you?

A worthy successor to Baby Jane
By Sirat (22 reviews) from London , 28 May 2011I was surprised to discover that a film buff friend of mine (admittedly very young) hadn't even heard of this one, such was the degree to which it was eclipsed by Bette Davis' and Joan Crawford's classic Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
Most sequels (of which this is in reality one) fall very far short of their originals this one doesn't. Brilliantly acted, full of under-stated malice and brilliantly-maintained tension, this is gothic horror at its best. No special effects, no buckets of blood, car chases or computer-generated hokum just spine-chilling human evil, mental instability and nastiness. All that and a truly haunting theme tune. Not to be missed, and not to be watched alone.- Was this review helpful to you?
