A hole worth discovering.

It's fair to say that I was expecting an altogether different kind of movie going experience from the Italian thriller ' I'm not scared '. The fact remains though that I came away from the film feeling somewhat uplifted, somewhat pleasantly surprised and perhaps even just a little bit charmed. Strange I know, coming from a movie which I had always imagined was a horror film.
But take away the, in the outset at least, somewhat misleading title and you are left with a rather enchanting tale of kidnap, ransom and brutal amendment, seen through the eyes of a ten year old boy. The cinematography is quite stunning, the performances excellent (especially those of the young leads) and to be quite honest I couldn't find a single fault.
The film makers could have taken a different path to the one they chose but for me, the path they chose was a good one. I'm Not Scared wasn't what I was expecting, but it was a path worth taking.- Was this review helpful to you?

In places frightening, but also very moving this is a tale of the crimes of adults told through the naive, black and white understanding of a young boy. Beautifully shot, the sparse and yet beautiful landscape speckled with broken down out-buildings reflects the adventurous young group of friends exploring a world strewn with poverty and weathered, desperate adults. Worth every minute
By misspennie (1 review) , 26 Nov 2012Bloody hell. This wasn't the film I was expecting based on the first line of the synopsis; perhaps I should have read it all. This film had me on the edge of my seat. This is probably one of the best films I've seen lately. There is something about thrillers involving kids...
It was actually fantastic. You should really watch it. As with most Italian films, it gets kinda depressing, but work through that.- Was this review helpful to you?

Quality yet rushed seeming.
By saiconoclast (1 review) , 01 Nov 2012The book is one of my favourites, and, though this film is a very good watch on it's own merit, it does struggle to match the subtlety of parts of the book and the narrative seems rushed by comparison. Well worth your time....
