This film ranks with Inland Empire in terms of baffling its audience. It is difficult to understand the dismal tale that is unfolding, especially as one of the principal actors plays two roles. It is not simply an exposure of the terrible conditions migrant workers endure, it is seeking to explore some unclear philosophical aspect.

Despite the rather soporific story line, the cinematographic construction in this film was immensely impressive, a patchwork of scenes of Kuala Lumpur in all it's smoggy glory. Although there is a lot of sleeping, the plot is in fact quite difficult to follow as you're not always sure who the characters are, especially when they're lying down. But pictorially the film gets top marks.

The film is fractured and open to interpretation, it expects you to bring a lot to the table yourself but is rewarding if you've got the patience. The central motif is of displaced workers. The film raises questions of detachment, loss and alienation but generally leaves the viewer to interpret the text.

I found the film rewarding, but could sympathize with the idea that it is slow.

I can't begin to imagine who might find this film worthwhile. For the 1st time, we switched it off after 30 minutes - when it became apparent that there was nothing at all to maintain any interest or involvement.

If you are unsure about this film do yourself a favour, get a fan put it behind a curtain then sit and watch it for 5 minutes, if it fills you with a sense of time standing still and a little frustration starts to crawl under your skin and you like it, then this film is for you.

It does what it is trying to do very well which is trying to give a sense of waiting, wondering, frustration and conflict. It does this not with dialogue, the film only has two or three scenes where the characters actually talk, but with clips from the radio and variations of character(s) walking from point A to point B and then occasionally changing their mind and walking back to point A again.

Maybe this sounds a little harsh but like I said it does what it is supposed to do. So if you would like to get a feel for would be like in that time and place by all mean watch and enjoy, but understand what you’re in for, if you don’t like the first 5 minutes chances are you won’t like the rest of it, it doesn’t get any better, there is no plot, no character development, nothing, it is just about the feelings of the time.

Personally I have never watched anything so boring and pointless in my life.
