Come on baby fight my fire...

This is one of the first movies in 2007 that has actually had me in tears, at one point I had to bite by knuckles to avoid becoing annoying to other people sat around the cinema. To salvage a firefighters benefits package for his kids, a widowed New York firefighter has to ask his colleague, and no 1 friend (and incidentally a world class womaniser) to become his gay partner. The trouble is there is some doubt to the honesty of this partnership, and as investigations (by Steve Buschemi) start unearthing disrepancies, the two have to go further and further to prove they are actually an 'item' - including much to the disgust of Adam sandler, acually getting married. The whole thing is just hilarious for me, and had me doubled up for over half the film. If you want a film that should guarantee to make you laugh this has got to be close to the top of your list. Recomemended.

    As expected.

If you're the kind of person who is tempted to watch this film, you will enjoy it very much. It knows its audience and plays to it. It's a dreadful film, but anybody who finds the concept enticing won't realise this.

    Watch it on DVD ....

I saw this when it came out and it's not really worth the trouble. Should have waited till it came out on DVD. Nothing special.

    In Shock

This has got to be one of the worst, unfunniest, offensive (but not in a fun/good way) films I have ever seen. And to think I was dying to see it after seeing a trailer. How do these films ever get made!? If you have one brain cell and like to have a little believeability and emotion in your films, avoid. No surprise that the director, the numerous writers and producers were all men. However, if you like 'fart' jokes you'll love it.

    Great Laugh Out Loud Comedy!!!

Brilliant! Watched this last night with my wife and 14 year old son and we all filled the room with laughter!

James and Sandler bounce off each other. The visual comedy, the funny script, the beautiful Ms Biel in support, a cracking story and some brilliant supporting characters make this easily the best film I've seen so far this year.

The jokes aren't all at the expense of homosexuality - indeed the story is quite a touching one about friendships and prejudice in todays society. Sometimes comedy is a great way of getting a moral story across - and this fits that mould; although don't let that comment cloud your judgement, this is first and foremost an outstanding comedy.

Like I said we watched it last night - but we ain't sending it back yet. This one is gonna get at least one more viewing before being returned.

    Awful

I think that this is one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to see. Certainly not funny and in many ways quite bigoted. To be avoided.
