Gun for a heroine like you never have!
By pinballcowboy (1 review) from london , 29 Aug 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
Brutal, violent, no doubt about that. If you can get through the first hour of harsh abuse, then you're in for the best bit: the heroine gets her revenge. There's a very dark, dry bit of humour to the violence of the second half to this great film. There's not a whole lot of depth to any of the characters, but it's the only UK premiere I've been to where the audience where clapping and cheering for the heroine towards the end of the film. I would stick it up there as one of the best horror films I've seen in a while. A simple story very well put together, with some nice, and fitting, surprises. If you've clicked on this title, then you've probably heard of the original. And whether or not you've seen the '79 version, then I recommend you see this one.- Was this review helpful to you?

(285)Sad, sick but a great revenge!
By a customer , 01 Apr 2013Reading mixed reviews, I didn't know what to expect with this film. First part is heart wrenching and disgusting but if you can get through that then this film is definitely one to watch!- Was this review helpful to you?

Completely pointless remake
By CatFitz (7 reviews) , 17 Mar 2013There's little more to this than a woman decides to spend some time in a remote cabin to write, and a group of local men horrifically abuse her before she manages to stagger away. She then turns the tables and takes her revenge in various gruesome ways. I personally found this one of the most horrific and pointless films I've ever seen - there are better revenge-driven films out there. Mainly this is because it's so one dimensional - she knocks back a pass by a guy at the gas station and this then goads him to get his mates together and spend hours abusing her in the woods? There's just no real motive behind it - this guy is good looking enough to go to the nearest town and pick a woman up if he was really that desperate. Also, after being helpless at the beginning, suddenly and despite presumably being greviously injured, she can then subdue fully grown healthy men? I don't think this film has anything to say for itself and that she gets her own back in the end isn't enough to excuse it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good and better than I had hoped for...
By SiSlayRD500 (132 reviews) from Solihull , 16 Mar 2013This was good and better than I had hoped for. As others have said, it's a bit harsh regarding Jennifer's rape scenes, but if you're a Horror fan, World Cinema fan (and obviously in other genres too) you'll have probably seen the equivalent, or worse before. Ultimately it's a revenge movie and like the original - albeit in different ways - Jennifer gets her revenge and personally, if that had happened I would fully sympathise, empathise and endorse such actions! A good movie and recommended if you're OK with this type of film!- Was this review helpful to you?

Gory and gruesome - great
By a customer , 14 Jan 2013Very voilent, but the original film was about the same. You get what you expect and it is about pure revenge and hatred. Even better when they are not expecting it. Worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
