Most helpful review
cinema of the absurd
By whitfield (4 reviews) from London , 30 Apr 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
i remember seeing films by this artist late at night on Channel 4 in the 80s and have not forgot the strange droning voice overs to idiosyncratic observations of people , places and architecture. This BFI release is a beautifully presented DVD that shows how these short films inspired other comic satirists on Television in particular. The films are generally hypnotic to watch with constant reminders of how absurd the everyday is . My favourite is an unflinching observation of an audience watching an entertainment. You may get the urge to fast forward but its hard to resist this most radical of Jacques Tati-esque British filmakers.- Was this review helpful to you?
