What a film !By JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 24 Aug 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]`Ice Age' emerges as one of the better animated films of recent years, cleverly designed and even more cleverly written. In twenty, thirty years time, Ice Age will be regarded as a classic. Superb cgi, rock solid plot and very funny dialogue with a nice sprinkle of charm. Ice Age is the total animation experience that adults and kids love.
The animators and designers have done a beautiful job in achieving just the right look for this tale. The backgrounds have a colourful, clean, streamlined look to them, and the animals themselves, in their appearance and design, provide a witty commentary on evolutionary history. The perfectly cast voice talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Dennis Leary (among many others) to create a highly entertaining, family film with a strong message about cooperation, friendship and caring for your fellow herd members.
All the environments and characters were modelled originally by clay, giving the film an artistic edge. There's nothing forced or overdone. The emotion was genuine, especially in the dramatic second half.
Pure animated entertainment

Ice age family funBy AVSheard (133 reviews) , 06 May 2013This story bring together three unlikely creatures to work together to complete a task. At first they want to kill the others (apart from Sid) but slowly they come together to work as a team as they bond by fighting together against the many dangers of their world. The humour is great although some times a little annoying and the action is exciting and humorous at the same time. This film is great although I wouldn't worry about the sequels.

Best animated film of all time!!By a customer from Dudley , 24 Mar 2011Loved every minute of this film. Stoyline was suprising brilliant, and theme running throughout the film is captivating! Very funny too!!
Ice AgeBy a customer from North of Watford , 15 Jan 2011The three leading characters provide plenty of funny moments here and the animation is impressive but Ice Age seems to fall short of greatness. The best thing about it may be the running gag about Scrat, a demented sabre-toothed squirrel who has a dangerous obsession with acorns. I may be in a minority of one for not liking modern American voices in the context of a story set in Paleolithic times and not liking the occasional use of music featuring electric instruments. Call me picky. I enjoyed Ice Age but not quite enough to want to see at the sequels.
Acorns and CavemenBy a customer from LONDON , 18 Dec 2010The second best after Ice Age III, the plot is fairly limited and overall the acorn obsessed adventures of Scrat are always my favourite 'bit', in fact the shorts on the discs in the extras are worth watching in their own right. You can see the technology capabilities changing through the films as well, this is not so polished as the later ones but you can still switch off and sit back and watch this easily enough.
