a disappointment

i recently saw audition which was so amazing that i immediately bought the dvd to show my friends. with this being the same director, i thought i'd check it out. i had heard all about the violence, blah blah blah, but i can stomach just about anything so i thought i'd rent this. a good film is a good film, gore or no gore. this, however, was not a good film. the storyline somehow managed to be almost non-existant, confusing and boring all at the same time. the film is really just an excuse to show lots of messed up stuff which is so over-the-top as to be laughable (with the exception of the 'hanging' torture scene, which was harrowing and funny 'just a light bit of torture'. ha ha.) a lot of it was tacky and bad.

anyway, give it a go but don't expect a masterpiece. if i'd seen it when i was 16 i would probably have thought it is the best film ever!!!
