Most helpful review
Started slow, but very interesting perspective
By a customer from Leicestershire, England , 10 Jul 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Tom Selleck carried off this role superbly. The film shows a side to the D-Day landings that you might never have seen, or considered before. If you were moved by Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, etc, then this is a film that you will enjoy.
It isn't an action movie it is a portrayal of life behind the scenes in the War rooms.
Extremely interesting to watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)3 men and a baby?
By spludger (12 reviews) from Galashiels , 10 Jul 2008i had no idea that it was tom selleck was playing eisenhour unti the end credits came up. it is an enjoyable and well acted portrayal of a man whom held the fate of half a million or so soldiers, prior to the normandy landings of june 1944...... nice to know that movies based on historical fact can be told in an interesting and quite enjoyable way, without stallone, arnie the steroid, willis, wayne, and baldwin, riding to the rescue.- Was this review helpful to you?

Superb performances
By a customer from Liverpool, UK , 29 Jul 2006I have to say I think this may be Tom Selleck's best acting performance. He doesn't necessarily deserve an Emmy, but I'm also not being sarcastic; this is definitely a quality performance, not because it is some scene-chewing piece of grandstanding, but because it is subtle, honest, and to the point. The way Selleck shows Ike's moments of anguish over his awful responsibility are understated but no less compelling, and actually give some sense of what the actual man had to go through.- Was this review helpful to you?

Well worth watching
By johnpaint from North Yorkshire , 21 Jul 2006No action, but plenty of tension in this insight into the build up to D-Day Tom Selleck gives an excellent performance as Ike, with all the in fighting in the allied command one wonders how Overlord ever got out of the harbours never mind onto the beaches.
I found it to be a welcome change from the blood and gore of films like 'Saving Private Ryan' the final scenes of Ike with the airborne troops portrayed the human side of high command.
Well worth watching- Was this review helpful to you?
