A well recorded concert at the North Sea Festival plus excerpts from 2 other fairly recent gigs. Ike and his band played some old standards and some stuff from the Ike and Tina Review days this time with some scary looking female singers taking lead vocals. Most of the video concentrated on Ike and his music and not his domestic and personal problems that have dogged him in the past. Ike did let himself down on occasions though with his suggestive behaviour with the female singers but I guess thats Ike reverting to type. There were several interviews with well-known blues artists who wanted to pay their respects for the contributions that Ike has made to R&B music. The most disappointing section was on the archive material. The potential was there for a really interesting nostalgic look back at Ikes past but it was totally spoiled by the appalling use of so called special effects. All in all if you are in the slightest bit interested in Ike Turner then rent this DVD Im sure youll find something in it for you.
