Office Life

Beautifully observed, this story of a young man's entry into working life in Milan in the 1960s catches the frustration and tedium of office life: the petty squabbles, the office politics, the insistence on hierarchy and, best of all, the sheer horror of the office do. I imagine that offices have changed a great deal since 1961, but the final image of a young man seeing his life stretch before him as the sound of a xerox machine - forerunner of the photo-copier - whirrs into eternity in the background will still ring bells with junior employees in offices everywhere..- Was this review helpful to you?
