Have secret societies infiltrated the Vatican?
, 24 May 2013
This documentary interviews journalists, authors and historians regarding some of the themes in Dan Browns book Angels and Demons notably if the Vatican has been infiltrated by secret societies like the Illuminati or the Free masons. As an Italian born fluent Italian speaker the pronunciation of the American narrator will grate and the documentary is often very repetitive in parts. The various interviewees claim that, when the Vatican had burnt the Knights Templar at the stake on Friday the 13th (still a day to be feared to this day), they thought they had captured all of them but quite a few had escaped and went on to join groups such as the Illuminati. The Illuminati were mostly scientists and seen as a threat to the church. It is claimed that the Illuminati then infiltrated the Free Masons. 50 out of the 57 signatories of the American Declaration of Independence were Free Masons. If secret societies had later infiltrated the Vatican, would they be able to expose secrets the Vatican has kept deeply hidden? The more interesting part of the documentary is when it discusses the various Vatican banking scandals including the Vatican banker found hanging from Blackfriars bridge in London with five bricks in his pockets (revenge killing by the Free Masons?). Definitely, the banking practises of the Vatican are shady. Furthermore, there is the dark period when the Vatican signed the Lutheran Pact with Hitler and Mussolini basically agreeing to turn a blind eye to the policies of fascism. When the Pope had a change of heart about this pact, he died suddenly (poisoned?) and was embalmed quickly (no Pope before had been embalmed) and an autopsy was not carried out. Then we move on to the Vatican archives which contain many books that the Vatican would not like the public to see either because the contents contradict Catholic teaching or it covers the period of fascism when the church did nothing to intervene in the holocaust. In the end, the institution we should worry about is the Catholic church and not secret societies as I think its the Catholic church which acts very suspiciously whether it comes to not intervening in the fascist years, dodgy banking practises or the cover up of child sex abuse by priests. The documentary also covers the three murders which took place of Vatican grounds in 1998 of a Swiss guard, the head of the Swiss guards and his wife. The case has never fully been investigated and the Vatican resisted help from the Italian police. There are more secrets in the Vatican than within the Free Masons or the Illuminati (if they still exist). Great documentary if you are an Oliver Stone conspiracy theorist!
