Fabulous photography of the Antarctic. Planning a trip there next year and this was the perfect incentive to get on and do something about it. My only criticism is that the commentary tends to stray towards the self-indulgent. Nothing the mute button can't fix though, since the scenery needs no comment.
If uncharted countries and real wilderness apeeal to you then you will not be disappointed by this DVD. It's only 38min long and was originally produced for IMAX so a big screen is definitely a bonus. The documentary is a mix of stunning landscapes, some wildlife including underwater scenes and a little information on the history and science that make Antarctica so interesting. I disagree with a previous reviewer about the commentary which I thought was pretty good and non-intrusive, unlike the music which was a bit dire at times but I guess that's a matter of taste. As it's a short DVD have a look at the 'Trailers' in the extras section which includes 11 trailers of the various programmes in this series. Overall a short but worthwhile DVD to rent, especially if you are contemplating a visit to this remote continent.
