Well , I hadn't seen this film since 1980 but remembered it as being very good. 28 Years down the line, I have to say it is brilliant. Obviously now it has a period charm but above all this are the superb performances from a flawless cast who involve you from the start and hold you until the end.The fact that you have looked up this film on the site means you already have an interest in quality films , and this is really a straight filmed play which deserves to be seen. I'll stop now so you can press the button to rent it !!
Not much to celebrate here as a Northern family gets together for a reunion only to find that the children have outstripped the parents and long-buried secrets must come out. This is essentially a very straight filmization of a successful Royal Court production, preserving it on celluloid for generations to come. And while those future generations may be able to appreciate some quality acting, they won't exactly find it to be a barrel of laughs.
