These two comic send-ups of James Bond films feature James Coburn as Derek Flint, a dapper secret agent who, like 007, uses wacky contraptions to get himself out of sticky situations. And, like Bond, he's habitually surrounded by beauteous babes. In OUR MAN FLINT, a trio of mad scientists devise a way to rule the world by manipulating the Earth's climate. Flint is hired by Z.O.W.I.E. (The Zonal Organization for World Intelligence and Espionage) to use his powers of deduction, destruction, and, most of all, seduction to save the day. The film's sequel, IN LIKE FLINT, finds the ladies' man battling a group of powerful and beautiful renegade women who plot to take over the world. They wish to create a race of female soldiers by brainwashing women with a device planted inside beauty salon hairdryers. Austin Powers would be proud.

As superspy Derek Flint, granite-faced James Coburn is equipped with the standard-issue suave mannerisms and harem of girls, plus one particular accessory that James Bond would have throttled Q for: a cigarette lighter with 83 uses (two-way radio, blowtorch and so on). No wonder Zowie (Zonal Organisation on World Intelligence Espionage) chooses Coburn to assassinate three villains who want to take over the world (so what else is new?). Incredible action, credibly packaged — if only Coburn weren't so smug.
Comic strip imitation of James Bond; in its wild way the first instalment scored a good many laughs, but the sequel, In Like Flint (qv), quickly ended the series.
A good old piece of fun similar to casino royal a hollywood attempt at james bond but better. If you like spy movies this is a good one with james coburn.
Our man Flint when I was young was excellent as I remember his lighter and all the gadgets. Now I am older it is still good but the over acting is more noticeable. Good to watch if you are feeling nostalgic but don't expect too much.
In like Flint was a dissappointment then and it is a dissappointment now. Storyline is weak, the gadgets did not change and the over acting got worse. No wonder there were no more made.
