In these days of special effect, CGI, multi-channel audio a 30 minutes show of two people talking can come as a little bit of a surprise.
In spite its cinematographic simplicity, In Treatment is one of the most gripping shows I have seen in years.
There is no special recipe or hidden secret. It is just a great script with superb actors. Gabriel Byrne conveys every single emotion with absolute perfection. Sometimes with just an eye movement.
The soundtrack is subtle sculpture in the background of an intense show with sometimes just the sound of a car passing by on the street.
I am not a big fan of psychological dramas or emotionally charged shows. Often I cant stand them. In Treatment is simply one of the best TV series I have seen. It reminds us that a good show is simply a good story with good actors it doesnt need anything else.
Do yourself a favour do not miss it.
