    By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM

Susanne Bier's Oscar-winning film teeters between the two polarities of hope and despair, peace and violence.

    Wow. What a film.

What starts off as probably the best portrayal of the effects of bullying I've seen on screen for the first half of the film turns dark for the second.

Assured, high-quality performances all round but the performances by the two young leads steal your attention and stay with you for quite a while.

Discover this little-known film for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

I agree with other reviewers - this is another excellent Danish film (I am am a recent convert - I have watched 6 on L.F. in the past month!)

Like the others, this film has a gripping storyline with superb acting, beautiful cinematography and an understated approach through music and mood which captures the psyche of modern Denmark.

For me Danish Cinema is the best in the world, better than the British and better than the Americans. Pure and simple many of their films just have tremendous scripts and a good story is a thousand times better than a $200 million budget and a lame script. I can see why it was the winner of the 2011 Oscar & Golden Globe award for Best Foreign Film. Thumbs Up

Excellent portrayal of adolescence and the tensions that come with it in a refreshingly original way of narration. A must see for everyone who loves thought provoking yet seemingly commonplace issues.

Very brave and utterly beautiful. A moving tale of two boys living in a confusing world. You won't regret watching it.

Really enjoyed this film, and I keep thinking back to it. Interesting look at how bullies act, both adult and child, and when it's right to stand up to them. Would recommend.
