This is actually a very good film to watch on a late Friday night. It is not classical horror, however, you do gat a good performacne from Sam Neil dowing the job of the traveller abroad in the Devil's own town.
Not necessarily the greatest hooror film ever made but it is significatntly beeter than most of the 3-tar rated films on here.
John Carpenters had some real shockers since the great 'Haloween', so at first I was a little scepticle about this film. But to be honest, I think this was a short lived return to form for the legendary director. Interesting plot, some good scares, and my personal favourite - demonic children. Always good for that creepy touch.
Sam Neill's not a great actor, but then I guess it's hard to know what a man going insane really acts like unless you've seen one for real, so I'll let him off. It's got looneys, monsters, possessed kids and an overwhelming sense of paranoia... but the endings a bit pants. Overall though, a fun scary movie to sit down with your mates with and munch popcorn to. Just leave your brain at home.
