Though it hasn't done well in the US, this Iraq war film starring Tommy Lee Jones has a moving story to tell...

Don't lose two hours watching this complete boring rubbish movie. Go out and wash you car as you will get more satisfaction.

  • Well-paced, engaging film with an honest message

I was engaged from the beginning. Tommy Lee Jones is in his comfort zone playing the wily, broody old Texan. Accomplished performances throughout. An enjoyable, if at times sombre film. The reports of this film being rubbish are probably down to a misinterpretation of the film's pace.

A very moving account of the effect war has on both the soldiers at the sharp end and their loved ones. Tommy Lee Jones is brilliant (and strong supporting cast) as the careworn ex soldier torn between his loyalty and duty to the military and to his son. Yes it is hard going but worth it as once you immerse yourself in the story it is an intriguing film that has you thinking about what has gone on long after it has ended. Given all the irresponsible rubbish that Hollywood churns out glorifying war, then this is a welcome change. No stupid CGI explosions, gung ho crap just a brilliant character driven story that may be uncomfortable because like in life, there are often no easy answers.

I watched this movie and I didn't regretted this. Smart, intelligent, tense with good actors, without spectacular effects, but really good movie. Of course somebody could be bored but this kind of movies are dedicated for intelligent ppl, and there isn't way to satisfy all.

  • War and its impact is ugly

This is a thought provoking movie that does not offer a straightforward black or white perspective - It is more nuanced than that. It is based on real life events and one thing you are left with is that war is ugly and impacts many more people than just the front line combatants. The movie itself was OK but nothing more

If you want to watch something hollywood, car chases, someone gets the girl, stuff blowing up then dont waste your time with this. If you want to watch something that makes you think about how precious and fragile a good life is, that has emotion and depth of feeling then this is for you. Dont expect to be smiling at the end though.
