The Indy films were more than likely a big influence on the Tomb Raider series, so it was inevitable that, eventually, an Indy game would come along in a similar vein to Lara's adventures. Which is exactly what The Emperor's Tomb is - everyone's favourite lecturer-cum-explorer starring in his very own third-person 3D adventure game. Released for Xbox back in February, the game is now available for your PlayStation 2. This particular adventure, set in the Far East in 1935, plunges players into the whip-wielder's shoes amidst an international crisis of terrifying magnitude. As the story goes, a powerful underground Asian society, the Black Dragon Triad, and a German mercenary, Albrecht Von Beck, have formed an unholy alliance in the hope of acquiring the Heart of the Dragon, a black pearl that gives its possessor the power to mould minds. Rumoured to be buried in the crypt of China's first emperor, it has been safely hidden for more than two thousand years. Now, with this unwelcome coalition in desperate pursuit of one of the most powerful artifacts known to man, it's up to Indy to prevent the Heart of the Dragon from falling into the wrong hands. Indy enters the race for the Heart at the behest of Marshal K'ai, an Asian businessman who asks him to retrieve the pearl and return it to the government of China. But in order to retrieve the Heart, Indy must first traverse the world to find and assemble the three scattered pieces of the Dragon Seal, the key to unlocking the crypt. And so the quest begins, with players guiding the ageing adventurer across a host of exotic environments as they partake in all the usual running, jumping, fighting and puzzle solving. This time, in addition to using his trademark whip and pistol, Indy can engage in fierce hand-to-hand combat against foes, many of who are well versed in martial arts. Improvised weapons such as shovels, chairs and table legs can also be used to fend off adversaries. Staying faithful to the movie trilogy, Emperor's Tomb delivers the latest instalment of Indy's adventures - albeit in game format - complete with all the trademark booby traps, snakes and fisticuffs.

I like this game, it plays like a Tomb Raider, but more playable and better controls.

Nice graphics and sound, but only has a 4:3 mode though.

The only minus point for me is you can't save when you want and you seem to have to do two lengthy missions before you get to a restart point.

Give this one a rent if you like Indiana Jones.
