Disappointing but watchable

Unfortunately you will only understand this film if you have seen the first two. This is primarily because it consists of a series of flashbacks to the first two films, or events that happened around the time those films are set. As such it becomes rather overcomplicating. The main flaw of this trilogy is that there is no new plot-drive after the first film. The second two are just either flesh to or fallout from the original story. If you saw the first two films, watch it to wrap up the trilogy, but if you didn't don't watch it. To be honest, I would say just watch the first one.
