This was quite a watchable film. The special effects were pretty good, although I thought it was a bit of a weak ending. Paul Bettany was very good.

Would recommend it as a good family film.

    ST-INKHEART!

Get ready! Here comes the 'Harry Potter' bandwagon . . . aaaaand . . . JUMP! Another, no doubt well intentioned, stab at the family(?) fairytale market. Instead of being lead through an enchanting and magical story, you are pushed and jolted from scene to scene. A quality British cast has been assembled . . . and then Fraser was crow-barred in to give it American appeal. Failed. He is woefully miscast and severely hampers the flow of the film. Mirren also disappoints as the batty old maid. Essentially a pantomime that has had money thrown at it, but in the wrong places. Sirkis excels, yet again, as the villain.

    Lost the magic.

I read the book of this when it was released and enjoyed it somewhat but wasn't blown away by it.

The film was worse...it's a typical case of..your own imagination is better than what they can bring to screen...

There just seemed to be less magic than I remembered..and I thought the villain (Capricorn) was crap.

Anyway...this film will probably be better if you haven't read the book. If you have read the book? You might be disspointed.

    an enjoyable surprise

Inkheart seemed a little slow in places and I think more could have been done with character development (Andy Serkis doesn't seem a convincing villain here,) but all in all this is an enjoyable film.

Brendan Fraser, Helen Mirren and Paul Bettany all make great characters (I'm still not convinced of the casting decision for Jennifer Connelly's pointless cameo appearance) and Eliza Bennett is wonderful as Fraser's daughter.

The story is very enjoyable and shouldn't be taken too seriously (this is a children's fantasy tale after all.) Special effects are great and there are some great locations for the action. Kids should love this.

    Really good

I thought this film was actually really good.

For those who have read the book I think it could possibly be disappointing.
