A superb, beautiful, magical film. One of my favourites of all time. Heartbreaking, funny, with outstanding acting from Gabriel Byrne and the two young boys who play his sons. The scenery of Ireland is shown in all its wild splendour and the poverty of the council estates graphically portrayed with all its characters. Life-affirming, unforgettable. a must-see film.

I remember watching this film round my great aunts when I was very young and I loved it. I couldn't remember what it was called and it just came to me so fingers crossed I will receive it soon. I remember crying my eyes out at the end, no doubt that will happen again! I can't wait, it will be a trip down memory lane :)

  • Beautiful story

I wasn't expecting to be so enchanted by this movie, but right from the beginning it caught my attention. The acting is great, the scenery superb, and the horse is just gorgeous! This is a story of a father who has turned his back on the traveller's way after he has lost his wife years before. He is struggling to raise his two young sons in an apartment block. He is drinking heavily to try and drown out the pain he feels. Into their lives comes a mysterious white horse - Tir Na Nog, and from there on things start to change as the family find themselves and come to terms with their past. There are some very funny scenes in this movie, and also some thought provoking moments as the father searches for his missing sons who have run away with the horse. A bit of the supernatural adds to the story too, but doesn't drown out the purpose of the movie. The two boys are great in it - likeable from the beginning, unlike some child actors, and Gabriel Byrne does a splendid job as their father. The scenery makes you want to pack your bag and go and explore Ireland. A real gem of a movie.

This is one of my favourite films and I have just watched it with my stepson of ten who said it was a very good movie.

A magical film for all the family.
