Muddled
By Mike Thomas from South Wales , 13 May 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I'm a big fan of Asian horror but this is a poor effort when compared to the likes of The Eye, Dark Water and Tale of Two Sisters.
Visually its a little flat and uninspired, and while the story is mildly intriguing at first, I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd seen all of this before - and done better.
What little suspense there is soon ebbs away to be replaced by a humdrum cop melodrama with the tortured security chief fighting to redress the balance in his life.
The film rapdily becomes confused and confusing: is it a horror, a psychological chiller, a ghost story, a character drama, a cop thriller? I got the feeling the director wanted to throw everything but the kitchen sink at this, hoping that at least something would stick. It's nowhere near as streamlined, atmospheric or effective as, say Dark Water, and less engaging than the mediocre Phone.
See it if you love the genre, as I do, just don't expect it to blow you away.- Was this review helpful to you?

(40)Definitely watchable.
By englishtlady (30 reviews) from Whyteleafe , 02 Dec 2012I agree with the other reviewers, the English version was cack compared to this. I watched the English version about three times and still didnt get the premise. The end always confused me, but with this I finally understood what was going on. This version did go on a bit, but I think they just cut out far too much of the original story. Anyway, It wasnt the best film I've ever seen, best certainly not the worst. Definitely watchable,if you can follow the subtitles ok.- Was this review helpful to you?

Haunted Mirrors?
By a customer , 16 Sep 2012I don't know whether I liked this film or not. I found it a little slow to start but I stayed with it and was glad because at some point I'd found myself drawn in. I think that for most people, it'll be hard for them to stay with it and come out the other end with a positive experience. Having said that, for me, who likes 'foreign' films and tv, for whom subtitles are not a put off, despite still being uncertain whether I really did like it or not, I'm glad I stayed the course. But it isn't for everyone. I found it a little confusing at first. Don't watch it if you can't suspend disbelief.- Was this review helpful to you?

a good watch
By a customer , 17 Aug 2011Superior to the American version, as always, with a much better plot and development of ideas. A good story told well.- Was this review helpful to you?

dead or alive, what's the diff...
By juradino (811 reviews) from London , 07 Aug 2011If you look in the mirror and see yourself you are schizoid but both parts of your personality are still alive. However, your reflection may assume life of its own and kill you making it look like suicide. If you look in it and don't see yourself one of you is dead. Which side are you on? Well made movie with some fluid special effects and fair plot.- Was this review helpful to you?
