For the fights only
By enemysprout (5 reviews) from Plymouth , 08 Mar 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
The quality of the fights continues but the plot is so generic that it feels a little desperate. Also strangely similar to Rock IV, only with Brits instead of Russians.- Was this review helpful to you?

(37)The 1st "IP MAN" is a hard film to follow.
By Eirianlys (19 reviews) , 05 Apr 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
The 1st 'IP MAN' is a hard film to follow. This film is different in many ways, In some parts it not so good and in others it better. Donnie yen performance as the peaceful, tolerant Kung Fu Master forced to fight to keep the reputation of the Chinese/Hong Kong Kung Fu art, Against Western hierarchy full of arrogance, Brutality & bad treatment, makes the film better than average. Good well rehearsed Kung Fu action pack scenes.- Was this review helpful to you?

WELL WORTH WATCHING
By MADONMOVIES (62 reviews) , 07 Feb 2013Very enjoyable. and well worth watching. Though that said, not as good as the first IP Man, but don't let this put you off. The acting is good as is the story and the martial arts. Though not as good and interesting as the first IP Man, it is still holds you in there and has some fantastic martial art scenes. The story towards the end is similar to another famous american movie. When all said and done it is a very good film and well worth watching and I certainly will be adding this movie to my dvd collection- Was this review helpful to you?

Not as good as part one
By Jaxy (54 reviews) , 08 Dec 2012A great sequel to part one. Ip Man lived up to expectations. Great moves as ever and was nice to see Sammo Hung as well but Shame he died- Was this review helpful to you?

Entertaining and Dramatic!
By Chrisaljack (308 reviews) from Hellingly , 06 Sep 2012While based on a true story, Ip Man 2, which focuses on his early years in post-war Hong Kong following the horrors of Japanese occupation clearly has taken the truth a little loosely, it never-the-less makes for one of the most entertaining and dramatic films in recent years. The difference in the culture of rural and city Chinese and the adjustments necessary to live in a city under the rule of the British rather than the Japanese feature strongly which adds to the overall atmosphere of the film. If you ever wondered whether a top class boxer would stand a chance against a top class martial arts practitioner, this film will give you a few answers... Not to be missed, but watch Ip Man first to really enjoy this to the full.- Was this review helpful to you?
