Now, to really enjoy this film you first of all mustn't match the following criteria: hate subtitled (foreign) films; think that all Japanese period dramas involve samurai slaughter; believe that Michael Bay is the Alpha and the Omega when it comes to cinema.
Moving on, this is what I think is a classic Film Noir/Femme Fatale tale of deception and coercion and does it very well and looks great. The tattoo itself has a slightly creepy charm and they way Otsuya blames the tattoo for all her evil deeds is almost funny.
One thing though, any scene where a character tries to knife another character borders on a Benny Hill style farce but fighting choreography isn't the purpose of this film.
In my mind, the ending is classic Japanese cinema but I won't say anymore than that.

DVD looked fine with some trailers for the director Masumara's other films, also there's trailers for someone called Suzuki but I'm not sure who he is but his trailers are surreal looking.
