Filmed in Cornwall
By Stiofan (38 reviews) from Oxford , 12 May 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
This 'Irish' film was filmed in Cornwall with mainly English actors with varying 'Oirish' accents, as well as in LA. The story of an African-American in Ireland has been dealt with in 'The Nephew', a real Irish film. This is largely played as farce but it's not very funny and is overly sentimental especially at the end. Kevin McNally has great fun as the pantomime 'English' villain. It's hard to see who this is aimed at as it is a mixture of two genres. Perhaps people who don't know where Ireland is. Americans then.- Was this review helpful to you?

(7)Easy watching family movie.
By a customer , 14 Jul 2011I was an extra in this movie and it was obvious all along that it was not going to be a box office hit. However...Eddie Griffin was absolutely hilarious off set (and often on) but some of the best of his humour was in the cut scenes. A MILDLY funny and sentimental family movie. (If Eddie's jokes were left in it would be a lot more entertaining - but not for family viewing!)
Watch it - but don't expect too much!- Was this review helpful to you?

Dire
By a customer from London , 31 Jan 2010This film is really bad, I liked Eddie Griffin in Undercover Brother and Deuce Bigelow but this was so unfunny it hurt.
If there is any part of you that thinks this will be remotely enjoyable you're wrong, I'm easy to please and I didn't laugh once.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dreadful
By a customer from New Malden , 26 Mar 2009The thing about a comedy film is that it is supposed to be funny, which this isn't. Why on Earth did they choose all English actors for Irish parts and film it in England. Why not use Irish actors in Ireland. That aside the lead bloke is trying to be Eddie Murphy in the 80's but the fact is that this is the noughties. Anna Friel worth an ogle but that is about it. Terrible plot also.- Was this review helpful to you?

Customer Review
By a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008I got this DVD for the forthcoming St. Patrick's Day, to celebrate with friends. I've previewed it and I like it! It's not as contrived as it sounds and there are some familiar faces, not least Anna Friel who is the star of the show. I suspect the ladies will like this for than the fellas, but that is not a fault. A great, light-hearted romp which should not be taken too seriously. Only fault is the great variation in sound volume between the American and Irish scenes on this DVD. Order it now and get it for the Big Day!- Was this review helpful to you?
