[Highly rated reviewer]but a pleasant and likeable film nonetheless. There are few surprises as most of the plot is completely predictable, although a pleasant surprise for me is that Michael Caine can act after all! He is very credible as the curmudgeonly Clarence losing his marbles and in fact all the performances are great, more than making up for the weak script.

Cane in a moving film about friendshipBy a customer , 03 Dec 2013This film has amazed me from the moment I had watched it. Great actors, Cane in my top 5 best films he had done. It's very moving, but very sad at the same time. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to watch Cane at his best. Anne-Marie Duff also very good as the mother. I have no bad points for this film.
Micheal Caine is Magical!By a customer , 16 Nov 2013Poignant film, acted beautifully by everyone involved. Covers all aspects of life with grace, humour and respect. Very enjoyable, thank you :)
Caine at his best!By mranybody (4 reviews) , 06 Nov 2013A brilliant British film, funny and very moving. Great casting and Caine yet again puts in a master performance. this is deffinately one to watch if you like a good British traditional type of film.
Utterly charmingBy quietradio (1 review) , 13 Jun 2013A really lovely, funny, moving story. Beautifully filmed with a soft nostalgic aesthetic, which was gentle and very pleasing. A great cast, with lots of compelling character actors. Michel Caine is wonderful, as is the young boy. A charming film on every level.
Caine there for sureBy Peril (79 reviews) , 25 May 2013Mike does it again. Just has something about him that makes you listen. Now is old man, can play old men with conviction. Leslie Phillips is amazing guy, and worth a watch to see him. Great Brit film...Harry Brown and Pierrepoint are two others must watch if like this one.
