Island of bad subtitlesBy a customer , 16 Sep 2012Took me 3 attempts to finish this. The subtitles were horrible, very difficult to read. The storyline was vague to say the least, and the ending seemed a bit of an anti-climax. Glad to say Andy Lau has done better than this. Not recommended at all!
Excellent if predictableBy a customer from Norwich , 30 Jan 2009Excellent if predictable, and if one suspends all sense of disbelief. Rolls along nicely.
Island of GreedBy a customer from STAFFORD England , 11 Jan 2009I gave up on this film in the end - the subtitles are so disappointingly poor - in white with no dark background - I struggled for a while but you miss the action, trying to read them !
I see that other reviewers have said similar. I admire both Andy Lau and Tony Leung and reallylooked forward to the film, which made its DVD subtitle presentation all the more disappointing. I honestly don't think this DVD should be sent out.
Not what you expectBy a customer from London , 18 Dec 2008Very dissapointing.
Its from Hong KongBy Jaskingdom (1 review) from Newcastle upon Tyne , 19 Jul 2008This film is from Hong Kong, it isn't from Taiwan as the background of the story is in Taiwan.
This Hong-Kong director isn't great anyway, his films are not up the level.
