With a title and a scenario worthy of Frank Capra, this cosy little romantic comedy is, incredibly, based on a true story. Nicolas Cage (reuniting with his Honeymoon in Vegas director, Andrew Bergman) plays a good-hearted cop who could easily be related to his baby-kidnapping character in Raising Arizona. Rosie Perez also gives one of her usual performances, shrieking the place down when she discovers that hubby Cage has divided his lottery winnings with waitress Bridget Fonda. Cage, Perez and Fonda are on top form and the result is both charming and disarming.

Rekindle your belief in human kindness with this down to earth 'warm & fuzzy' movie. Nicholas Cage proves how diverse his talents are, going fron a psychotic mobster (Face Off) to Charlie the caring cop from the Bronx. Bridget Fonda plays the down to earth waitress with aplomb. Best bits - the ideas they come up with for spending their big lottery win! Definetely one to add to your home dvd library.
A real faith-restorer, this film is perfect for a cosy night in to cheer you up!

An enoyable old b/w movie, similar to the ones I remember watching on BBC1 when they use to have the Sunday matinee.
Good movie and it makes me wonder how many people would really be so honest as to admit winning the lottery.Nice story line.
This was such a lovely film about a waitress who hits rock bottom with her finances and gets lucky when a cop makes a promise of half his lottery wins if ever it happened. What would you know, he wins and keeps his promise. Makes you smile, makes you laugh, a real feel good film.
This heartwarming story gives you hope for the human race.
There was fun, action and romance all the things I enjoy in a film. I saw this one when it first came out in the cinema but I could not remember the title having found it again it is definitely on my shopping list to buy. A good family film I would recommend to anyone to give it a look see.
This is a real heartwarmer that I can always watch again and again. It inspires you to treat people as you would want them to treat you, and that no matter what happens there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Hard to believe it is true but I hope so!
A great american feel good, weepy, funny yarn.
Bridget Fonda and Nicolas Cage are probably two of the most popular and appealing US stars of the last 20 years and they create great chemistry in this moral story of two good hard working souls who discover each other, true love and that money isn't everything.
It is funny, moving and just good entertainment.
Is it me or is Cage the weird off-spring of an Elvis and Jimmy Stewart love child? Erm, that'll just be me then...

A comedy of mild charm, but too calculating to be convincing in its belief that love conquers all.
"...[Cage and Fonda] keep it sailing....[A] sweetly amusing movie..."
