    New slant-old story

    This TV film was ok.

Robin Hood turns up in it along with his merry men but I am not sure if it was as good as the old Robert Taylor film.

King Richard as the 'Black Knight' was cheesy to say the least but still it was an ok period drama.

    BBC drama at its best

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series on the TV, I believe it was one of the BBC's Sunday afternoon classic showings. This is the one reasons why I never mind paying the TV licence fee, quality productions such as these.

Ciaran Hinds is superb as the villain of the piece who is redeemed at the end by his love of Rebecca. Stephen Waddington is also excellent as Ivanhoe, noble and good, the very picture of Victorian chivalry, coming to the rescue of his true love, then going off and doing the decent thing to marry his betrothed.

One of the pleasures of watching old TV dramas is spotting the well known actors and this certainly had its fair share. Oh and the dog was brilliant.
