Superb Footage from Yesteryear
By Eddie Johnson from Middlesbrough, England , 19 Sep 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
The real impact this production makes is in the startling amount of superb footage from yesteryear.
I have watched numerous filmed encounters and not seen historical fights such as those of Jack Dempsey so well documented.
There is however little to be done about the lighting and one wishes that one could see some of the fighters better illuminated and closer to the camera in the early days. This 'fault' is well illustrated when compared with the superb more recent footage of Foreman in his prime.
A boxing fact I did not know was when Dempsey fighting in his prime had to almost rob the cash till after one event to get his pay-out because the attendance was comparatively poor when compared with the numbers attending his other fights.- Was this review helpful to you?
