  • Good, not fantastic

    [Highly rated reviewer]

A great piece of 70's euro trash pulp from the exploitation master, Franco, and starring the unforgettable Klaus Kinski. If you cannot see beyond the blinkered world of hollywood and empire magazine, this film may not be for you (as with the previous reviewer, amaturish twaddle). However, if you do like to delve a little deeper, you may find many delights.

I was very Disapointed with this film! As a Ripperologist of 15 years the film had nothing to do with the Ripper killing's themselves or the original victims. 0 stars...

The disclaimer in films, 'The events depicted in this movie are fictitious. Any similarity to any person living or dead is merely coincidental', for this film should read, 'The events depicted in this film are fictitious. Any similarity to the story of Jack the Ripper is merely coincidental'. 'From Hell' was closer to the story, in comparison, by about 1000%...... and that was a 'Hollywoodised' version.

Also, the whole film just doesn't feel right.....If this had been made by Hammer, It would be one of those films you could never really remember the name of, until you saw it in the t.v. listings. You'd then watch it, after a night in the pub, whilst eating your kabab or spring rolls. But that would only be if channel 4 or 5 didn't have Porky's or something like that on.

Unless your a big fan of Klaus Kinski / European subtitled movies....... don't waste your subscription by renting this, find another version. 'From Hell' or Michael Caine's version of 'Jack The Ripper' are 2 examples.

This film was a HUGE dissapointment for me. Watching this film was like watching truth be turned into fiction. Now I have read nearly everthing and seen nearly everything on 'jack the ripper' and this films turns him into something he was not.
