Jackie Chan's most sensational action scenes of the 1990s, impressive production values and super-slick direction (from Jackie and Bennie Chan), illuminate this little-known movie. Although the plot doesn't bear close scrutiny (something about a top secret energy source, an African tribe and amnesia) the extraordinary set pieces — from a clog-assisted Rotterdam brawl, to a three-way rooftop battle that doesn't relent for nearly ten minutes — rival anything in a megabuck Hollywood blockbuster. Jackie's trademark use of slapstick comedy at the height of the fighting works brilliantly too. Cult status should be just around the corner.
"...WHO AM I? Is destined to be remembered for its stunningly choreographed rooftop finale....[A] sequence that rivals anything in the history of the martial-arts movie..."
This movie is good, not his greatest, but is definitely up there. He seems to have produced some great movies this year, and 'Who Am I?' has that nice touch of modern movie making to it. The martial art stunts are impressive, especially the fight scene on the roof, and he gives way for other actors to show off their skills.
Overall, a very enjoyable movie with, for once, a more gripping plot than is usual in a martial arts movie.
The start of the film is a bit dull & slow moving but it soon picks up and the action sequences are great, especially the car chase in South Africa.
The fights are up to the usual Jackie Chan standard, the best being on top of a building in Rotterdam, Holland.
Well filmed and good soundtrack
most enjoyable.
