This like many new releases is not available to rent from Love Film... WHY? I'm getting ready to dump Love Film.

  • very disappointing

As a lover of the novel and TV/film adaptions of Jane Eyre, I was seriously disappointed with this version. It just seemed flat and lacking in authenticity. The characters just didn't seem believable compared to previous versions and the book itself. Not to say that Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasiokowska did a bad job - they are brilliant actors I just don't think that these roles were for them. If you are a fan of the many other versions I'd say skip this one. If you haven't seen any of them then maybe give it a try.

  • glacially gorgeous

Not sure what to make of this. It looked gorgeous, with lots of long lingering shots of the moor and of Mia Wasikowska. I feel this made the pace almost glacial and, to be honest, a little boring. I feel the BBC series from 2006 was better paced although it was longer. That being said, Mr Rochester is very well cast indeed (Michael Fassbender looking rather lovely) and there is chemistry between the two leads. I was drawn into the story sufficiently for it to have made me want to watch it again. Maybe. One day.

  • OK - try a previous version first

Not a bad version of the classic tale although I think previous versions were better. I didn't like the way it wasn't done chronologically. I think you lose a lot of the build up when this is done in films. If you have never read the book or seen a previous film then don't watch this. Try another version first.

  • brilliant (and I hate period dramas!)

I'm not a big fan of period dramas and A Level English put me off classic fiction from the likes of Bronte and Dickens. However this film had me gripped from the start. Great stuff!

Utter Rubbish. I have honestly never seen such a bad adaptation of Jane Eyre. I LOVE Jane Eyre, and this was such a bad film! Charlotte Bronte would turn in her grave if she knew about this adaptation. It starts half way through the novel which was very annoying, and the ending was very very VERY bad, I was expecting at least another hour. I don't know how this film got any good reviews. The acting was OK I suppose, and this may sound a bit silly, but it wasn't long enough. You can't pull off a good adaptation of such a classic in under 2 hours can you? I'd like to meet the director and tell him what I think!!! I'll stick to the BBC version starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stevens (The BEST version in my opinion!!!) But please I BEG OF YOU don't give it the time of day!
