    A Passionate Jane Eyre...

After reading the books many times, I find Jane Eyre is a passionate and independent character. After watching many different versions of Jane Eyre I have become increasingly disappointed in the lack of passion between the main characters.

I decided to try this version as my last hope in finding a version of Jane Eyre which brings out the passion within this young lady. Why else does Mr Rochester fall in love with Jane if it is not for her passionate and interesting nature.

After watching this, I have had to purchase it to add to my collection of great British classics. The two actors chosen for this adaptation are perfectly suited. This version has been perfectly infused with good cinema photography, great acting and the ability to stay quite true to the book.

I loved this version and I shall never watch another version again, this is going to sit next to the BBC's version of Pride and Prejudice on my shelf and be the pride of my collection.

If you do nothing else, you must watch this amazing story.

Truly embodies the spirit of the book

As a huge fan of the novel, and as someone who rarely enjoys a TV or film adaptation as much as the original book, I had fairly low expectations of this. How wrong I was! This is a gorgeous production. The location is a perfect Thornfield, the acting from the whole cast is superb and - most importantly - the two lead actors are individually fantastic and have a wonderful chemistry together. The writing and acting combine to do a great job of communicating why the flawed, and not entirely sympathetic character of Rochester and that of poor, plain Jane Eyre fell so deeply in love when on the face of it it was such an ulikely romance.

They also made the inspired decision to cut back on the screen time given to the weaker sections at the start and end of the book ie Jane's childhood and her time with the vicar and his family. Some have accused this of being a 'sexed up' version of the book and I agree that to some extent it is - but the book is full of passion so I feel this was justified. I defy anyone to watch the scenes in the bedroom and not feel the sexual tension crackling in the air despite both characters being fully clothed throughout.

Watch it - you won't regret it!
