Nothing special but highly entertaining

The bulk of this DVD is made up of old footage which I recognise from the Top gear series, the point of this title is to determine if cars have been slowing down over the years due to airbags, side impact protection bars etc.
I remember a small article on the TV series but this concentrates soley on this point... or atleast it should do.
The intro of the title makes sense and Clarkson rings out his agenda for the next 60 minutes or so, however some of the re-used clips don't exactly make sense and do not quite fit snugly into the DVD as they should do. There is chapter of the DVD where they are comparing one new car against another new car (the Merc-Mclaren and the Porsche Carrera GT) which misses the point of the DVD as the comparision is between new and old. At the end of the DVD you see a quite interesting twist on clay pigeon shooting... instead of a 2 barrel shotgun there is a selection of assault weapons and a rocket propelled heatseeking tank busting missile launcher! and instead of clay pidgeons... Old cars! This is also away from the agenda of the DVD but highly entertaining!
Although this DVD is a cut and paste afair with left over and old material it still manages to give you a good end product... just like that bubble and squeek you make from your left over sunday roast...- Was this review helpful to you?

Supercar spectacular

Not vintage Clarkson
By Fibes from Lancashire , 04 Dec 2005I am a lover of Clarkson and his pals on 'Top Gear', they have a laugh, only test cars they want to - ones we dream of owning and they do'nt follow the usual format of car shows. This DVD then was a bit of a disappointment. I don't know if Jezza has to be more sensible on a DVD, but it lacked the same level of humour without his sidekicks. Yes he destroys things and the cars are quite good, but it was a bit of a let down with not much fun on the track. Not original enough!- Was this review helpful to you?
