The film tells the story of Hendrx's life through interviews with Hendrix's dad, ex girlfriend, old friends, other musicians etc, alongside footage of Hendrix playing. Highlights are Eric Clapton's views on first seeing Hendrix, interviews with some of his old housemates who talk about how he changed and his attitude towards being black. All the live footage is available elsewhere, but it's still stunning to see how the music just poured out of Hendrix onstage.
Hendrix is quite an enigma, and although this films gives you an insight, you don't feel much nearer to understanding him by the end. Well worth watching none the less.
Jimi died too soon - fact. A trendsetter in many ways - imagine what he could have achieved in a few more years. This is a good insight to the man behind the music.
