flawed, but indispensible
As far as Hendrix footage goes, this is up there with the best available. This famous gig at Woodstock only got an airing on vhs in 1992, and this dvd expands on that offering, with extra tracks,and the performance is now presented in the correct order for the first time and this also includes some alternate b&w footage shot by a student at the stage side, which was apparently left in his attic for over 30 years (as if you'd forget!!). For Hendrix fanatics, this extra footage is worth the rental alone as it offers a different perspective on the performance - which is important, as the official colour camera work made frequent over use of the zoom facility at times & was unbelieveably amateur (maybe it was the acid!)
overall, if you love hendrix as i do, you'll love this. decent sound too, 5.1 remastered by jimi's original producer eddie kramer. -

Hmmm ........I see that we meet again....
As this is the first time I have seen a film of Jimi live I wwould have to guess this is probaly not his best live performance , but If you are a Jimi fan you will want to see this. There are snippits of interviews with people who were involved, and Mitch Mitchell who played at this Woodstock performance is quoted as saying that 'this line up was not gelling as it should', is a telling remark.
But I enjoyed this. -
