    a stubborn saint

this quiet film charts the saintly jimmy carter travelling, speaking, signing books, making friends, building houses, and carrying his own suitcase up various hotel staircases; all the while looking frail and tired yet determined to squeeze as much as he can from his (few) remaining years. He speaks the truth as he sees it, despite critisms, sighs at critics who have not actually READ his book but just KNOW it is anti semitic.....

this is NOT a great action picture - I was planning to read a book while it was on - but didnt - it is gently absorbing somehow - you feel you are witnessing the life of a truly godly man - a complete contrast to the violent vehemence of the religious right
