dripping with atmosphere...By a customer from Ipswich, UK , 22 Jun 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]...and the atmosphere is a brooding, dark and menacing one set against a background of multlayered human dysfunction, social and domestic. So not exactly a feelgood movie. Having said that the film has tremendous realism -some excellently awkward short, bleak takes that portray the subtle nuances of humans relating badly and there is brilliant character development of the various flawed and damaged human beings as the plot unfolds. Many rather unflattering aspects of Australian culture and society are eloquently and sympathetically captured -certainly dispelling any rose tinted illusions one might have about the continent. First rate acting and very satisfying overall shape to the plot. Classy. Well crafted. Watch it.

White supremecyBy peoni (17 reviews) , 20 Sep 2013Oddly, although I hated the dreary settings, the drab colours, the bad continuity, the acting by Linney and Byrne compelled me to watch until the end. However the racism was not fairly treated at all when the white people were made to look good by turning up at that - (wonderful)- ceremony. Their action was racist in the extreme and needed the script to deal with it more deeply.
Good FilmBy a customer , 15 Sep 2013interesting film, layered film, good acting, excellent leads. Intriguing and very well acted. Not your usual predictable plot. Explores some interesting ideas and moral questions
Long and slowBy Bazcat (8 reviews) , 15 Jul 2013Whilst a great cast, great acting and an excellent setting of the NSW Snowy Mountains is enjoyed, I'd say the genres of 'drama' or 'thriller' are very exaggerated. After nothing dramatic and thrilling has happened after 1 hour and 45 minutes, I had to turn this off. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen but it never did. All the components are there for a great movie but this one just never ends up getting off the ground unfortunately.
way too longBy gylda (17 reviews) , 08 Jul 2013who the hell could happily fish in a river with a dead body floating right next by? either a bunch of psychopaths or worst a bunch of glorified morons... i go for the latter, as a psychopath would have told to the police he found the body on Sunday afternoon!..ooops but that wold have made the movie only 10 min long... way too long and lacking in focus. great acting by all lead characters but that doesnt save this sinking sheep of a movie.
