'Save your money when you are young so you don't have to whore yourself when you are old.' is the best quote from, and the lesson of this documentary. I was surprised, thinking just I was in for an hour of laughs, but walked away with a few good lessons on life.

  • Excellent slice of her life..

I like Joan Rivers and this is a very honest slice of a year in her life. She is an amazing character and a dynamo!! She is an obsessive workaholic and you can see the cracks this has resulted in by, for example her relationship, with her daughter. There is an irony in the film, her being chauffered around at Thanksgiving in a large limosine wearing a big fur coat and delivering parcles to the poor being one!!! Definitely a must for Joan Rivers fans.

In recent years I've come more to appreciate the force of nature that is Joan Rivers - making it as a woman in what is most assuredly a man's world is no mean feat. This title is worth renting purely for Miss Rivers's astute, if aggressive, handling of a PC heckler who totally deserves the outburst he receives. The only sad note is that with all her accomplishments, Rivers still seems insecure, unable to sit back and enjoy her success. Still, this documentary is warts and all, and Rivers's essential humanity, beauty, hilarity, and brio are the stars that shine through an all-too-short 84 minutes.
