Really different US TV Drama
By a customer from Bristol , 23 Jul 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
This is a great US TV drama that follows in the best traditions of HBO. Its about a family of surfers and the strange events which happen when a stranger from Cincinnati arrives in town. HBO pulled the plug after the first series which is disappointing given that this is really original. However, its still a worthwhile watch, despite there only being 10 episodes.- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)Shockingly bad.
By DoitFilm (5 reviews) from Gravesend , 10 Feb 2013This is terrible. Not up to HBO's normal high standards. Unbelievable and dreadful acting, flimsy story line and annoying characters.- Was this review helpful to you?

Different! Does this mean good?
By JCPHankins (57 reviews) from London , 28 Oct 2010A very strange show all in all and I think this is probably the reason it didn't go past a single series. It could've developed nicely if allowed as it has an almost Twin Peaks esque quirkyness about it. There seem to have been a load of analytical articles written on the web about the show and its allegories, meanings and methaphors. The fact that this is the case stands it out as worth a watch if only for interest purposess, you may need a couple of views to understand it and even then the lack of real character depth will probably make you feel a bit undernourished.- Was this review helpful to you?

Surf's up
By ClockworkOrange (29 reviews) from Maidenhead , 25 Apr 2010Wonderfully off-beat, cool and decidedly weird, although it wears a little thin quite quickly, esepcailly as the title character ditches dysfunctional aloofness in favour of inpenetrable borderline-religious gobblydegook. There are some lovely set pieces, that at times might remind you of Little Miss Sunshine. It doesn't quite pull off its initial promise and the story - such as it is - seems to disappear, leaving you frustrated.- Was this review helpful to you?
