Superb drama...By Michael Oglesby from Norwich, Norfolk , 03 Mar 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Another John Grisham novel turned into a movie. The Rainmaker is superb in contrast with A Time To Kill and The Client. Matt Damon is just great, on the same par as he was in Good Will Hunting. Danny DeVito is funny, which give the film life. Danny Glover plays the Judge in his no bullsh|t attitude, which is great. There are loads of other stars in this movie. The DVD is a let down though. No extras of any kind. There are other languages, French and Spanish. There are multiple subtitles as well. It's in Widescreen in 5.1 English sound.

do not expect too muchBy a customer , 29 Aug 2013Based on the reviews and name of the author I expected a bit too much from this film. It's an average, may be a good average, but nothing you would remember. Although Matt Damon does a good job, the story line is very predictable and overall impression- big yawn
I'm not sure how I missed it 1st time out!By Linziloo (8 reviews) from Glasgow , 05 Aug 2013So I'm not really sure how I missed this in the 90's but I'm so glad I put it onto my rental list.
To be fair it does start quite slowly, I'd even say I thought about turning it off as I wasn't really into it, but I'm so glad I didn't. It was great, very well acted, some unexpected twists in there and a well thought out drama.
Casting was awesome, everyone worked really well even Mickey Rourke even though he's not in it that much, definitely worth putting on your rental list.
ANOTHER COPPOLA MASTERPIECEBy Burnhamite (407 reviews) from BURNHAM , 04 Apr 2013Francis Ford Coppola's unique skills as a director are ably explained in the bonus section of this disc. Bringing together an all star cast he has succeeded in making a suberb tale by John Grisham into an excellent movie
classic GrishamBy denis007 (167 reviews) , 17 Jul 2012Worth watching it! Superb acting by De Vito, Voigt and Damon. Suspens throughout the movie is present. Unexpected ending. All these make it worthwhile watching it!
Classic GrishamBy andymos (64 reviews) from worcestershire , 21 Dec 2011I'm a great John Grisham fan and I haven't read this one yet, but if as usual the book is better than the film, I'm already looking forward to it. This is a classical David v Goliath courtroom drama with great performances from perennial bad guy Jon Voight and Matt Damon as 'David', Danny DeVito as Danny DeVito and Danny Glover as the judge. A typical Grisham story, highly recommended.
