john lee hooker the definitive

kept this dvd for weeks and was so loath to send it back. gave real insight into hooker the man, the singer, and carrier of an urban blues tradition into the city. he may have electrified but he never lost his roots.
the comparison between the duets with van morrison carlos santana and ry cooder were something else. morrison and santana too conscious of self compared to cooder who, after one tiny finger signal from john lee, just slowed down and they went into a kind of mutual singer accompaniest trance and it really was the spaces in between that made the music. if for nothing else than this duet the dvd was worth it. and bonnie ryatts near remembered orgasm when she was talking about her duet with john, i'm in the mood for love, sent my bp over the top!
looking out for john's socks throughout the video was great, some man, some singer, some socks!
john could work the audience, he sang from his own juice and touched life in his hearers. the blues healed me, the blues can heal you too. yes john lee, you have been there and thats what you shared, humanity, life, the human condition and hope.
your spirit will live on
